Remittances and Money Transfers in South Africa

The global payment landscape is rapidly changing and South Africa is set to face a period of exceptional change over the coming years. Social distancing, of course, means that the traditional ways that money changes hands will likely no longer be literally … hand to hand.

More recently, the country has recognised the need for continuous payments modernisation to support the national imperatives outlined in the South African Reserve Bank’s (SARB) Vision 2025“Migrants are suffering greater health risks and unemployment during this crisis said Dilip Ratha, lead author of the Brief and head of KNOMAD (Global Knowledge Partnership on Migration and Development).. “The underlying fundamentals driving remittances are weak and this is not the time to take our eyes off the downside risks to the remittance lifelines.”

Against this background the Remittances & Money Transfers Conference 2021 will be taking place at on the 5 & 6 May at the Indaba Hotel, Fourways, Johannesburg. This will be a “HYBRID” event; delegates will be able to attend virtually and physically.

The event will attract professionals dealing with amongst others remittances, cross border payments, anti-money laundering, clearing & settlements and foreign exchange. It will give delegates the opportunity to network with and build long lasting working relationships with like- minded colleagues.

The signature Remittances and Money Transfers Conference (in its fifth instalment) will be a two-day conference tackling remittances and money transfers in South Africa.  The conference will provide an overview of remittances and money transfers  in 2021, by focusing on the latest trends and challenges in the market, and sharing insights into how Southern African operators in the remittances space can extend their reach and influence with international money transfers.

Since its inception this event was supported by more than nearly 400 attendees.

Trade Conferences International is looking forward to welcome delegates to this event.
