AI Regulation and Compliance Conference 2025

4th November 2025 @ 7:30 am - 5th November 2025 @ 3:40 pm

The complexity and rapid growth of artificial intelligence (AI) have sparked the need, globally, for legal clarity when it comes to the effective regulation of AI. Global AI regulation is still in its nascent stages, with a mix of national and regional efforts underway. While no single, universally binding framework exists, there’s a growing trend towards risk-based approaches, emphasizing human rights, sustainability, transparency, and strong risk management.

AI remains largely unregulated in South Africa and raises great concern over consumer protection.

As the application of AI increases in the interest of business and governments, there is an urgent need to regulate the development and use of these intelligence systems. It is essential to ensure good practices, ethics and the security and preservation of sensitive data. AI regulation is crucial for market growth and business credibility.

The EU’s AI Act is influencing AI adoption in South Africa by setting a global benchmark for responsible AI development and deployment, prompting South Africa to consider its own AI regulations. While not directly applicable, the Act’s principles, particularly around risk assessment, data governance, and human oversight, are shaping South African policy discussions and inspiring a more structured approach to AI regulation.

Continent-wide, Africa is expected to generate US$1.2 trillion from AI innovation by 2030, representing a 5.6% rise in the continent’s GDP.

Against this backdrop the upcoming AI Regulation & Compliance Conference to be hosted on 4 & 5 November at the Indaba Hotel Fourways will be uniting key role players from banks, academia, insurance companies, financial services, services providers and government at one forum to discuss and share insights on how delegates can overcome the challenges / hurdles faced by financial institutions upon the adoption of AI regulation.

Close to 30 speakers will be addressing topics covering sections such as the AI regulatory landscape, AI regulation risk challenges, technological innovation vs. regulation, governance compliance & reporting, consumer protection & fraud, data AI laws and regulation.

As organisers of the annual AML & Financial Crime Southern Africa Conference, Trade Conferences International (TCI) is proud to bring delegates another top regulatory event.

Looking forward seeing you there!
