Open Banking Southern Africa Conference
17th May 2023 @ 8:00 am - 18th May 2023 @ 5:00 pm
As open banking evolves into open finance, and ultimately into open data, a competitive and collaborative ecosystem will emerge involving banks, tech giants, other financial services industry players, such as fintechs, and non-banks. This will further bolster innovation, and will escalate further disruption of the industry landscape.
This disruptive evolution has been driven by the rise of the broader digital economy and the challenges posed by the pandemic. Businesses had to accelerate their transformation journeys and become more innovative.
Non-financial-services providers, especially the big technology companies, are getting into financial services, and are collaborating with banks in the US and Europe and competing with incumbents in Asia.
Globally, jurisdictions have approached open finance and open banking in a number of different ways. Some jurisdictions have taken the approach of mandating banks to share customer-permissioned data.
In other regions regulators have introduced open finance and open banking through a range of measures to promote and accelerate the take-up of data sharing frameworks in banking, while others issued an open API frameworks, setting out approaches for banks to implement open APIs.
The Open Banking Southern Africa Conference to be hosted on 17 & 18 May at the Indaba Hotel Fourways will seek to address the ever evolving open banking, open finance, and open data landscape in southern Africa– the trends and challenges and what the future holds for its relevant stakeholders.
The conference will incorporate a relevant industry related programme which will include topics to be addressed such as: how open banking, open finance and open data can empower consumers and businesses, mitigating risks related to open finance such as data breaches, identity theft and cyber fraud, sharing of financial data between banks and third parties, emerging trends in financial inclusion to strengthen policymaking in the country and at regional levels, legalities of screen scraping and it’s risks and much more …
The programme will assemble more than 25 industry-leading speakers that will share their knowledge and insights with delegates giving them an in-depth understanding on how to capture opportunities within this landscape and how to find solutions to the challenges.
The conference targets professionals from banks, insurance companies, service providers, government, financial institutions, services providers, consultancies and government.
We invite potential delegates to join us at the conference, so as to once again create the ideal platform for information and knowledge sharing. Involvement will create excellent networking opportunities for sponsors, exhibitors, delegates and speakers.
